Your consumer rights (Australian Consumer Law)

Last updated: 1 August 2026. Will be finalised with legal review before launch.

Buoycott complies with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and respects guidance provided by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Consumer guarantees

Under the ACL, any paid services we provide in the future must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for their stated purpose, and match the descriptions we give you. These guarantees cannot be excluded by any contract or terms of service.

No misleading or deceptive conduct

We strive to be entirely clear about what our service does and does not do. During this preview phase, all buyers, refunds, drop-off partners, and dollar values shown in the app are clearly labelled as simulated. No real transactions occur.

No unfair contract terms

When our future subscription service ("Buoycott Plus") launches, the contract terms will be fair and transparent. We will ensure clear upfront pricing, transparent renewal processes, and straightforward cancellation pathways.

Cancellations & refunds

When subscriptions launch, you will be able to cancel easily at any time, consistent with the ACL. You will not be charged for periods after you cancel where the law requires us to stop billing. Refund rights exist if the service fails to meet consumer guarantees.

Raising a problem

If you experience an issue with Buoycott, please contact us at contact@buoycott.com.au first so we can help resolve it. Consumers may also contact the ACCC (accc.gov.au) or their state/territory consumer protection agency (e.g., NSW Fair Trading, Consumer Affairs Victoria).
